“Wow” is the word I would use to describe our trip to Nashville, Tn.
My husband and I had not seen our son and daughter-in-law in three years due to illness and finances, but my son’s company sent him to Nashville for a conference. We live in Illinois, so we were able to meet him and his wife in Nashville for a wonderful three days.
They are from California and they were amazed how… Read More

My dream started back in 1978 when I met the boy of my dreams. We dated for 2 years, talked of marriage, broke up and moved our separate ways. I never forgot him, nor did he forget me. After a few changes in our lives and 23 years later, we both found ourselves unmarried and found one another again. We dated, decided to get married and found ourselves getting married in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
We talked… Read More

I grew up at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and can see or be happy in no other place. Although I have lived other places, the mountains keep calling me home, and when I finally see them all is well within me.
There are so many things to do and see there, such as Cades Cove…the 14 mile trail where a person can see deer by the herds and bear, wild turkey,…

Growing up in Northern Alabama, my daddy taught us the importance and beauty of the outdoors. We would take that long road trip through Tennessee in an old Volkswagon station wagon to stay in the Smokies. We didn’t have a lot of spending money so we just enjoyed the park but that was enough. The mist in the valley blanketing the Mountain Laurel., the bears sneaking through the campsite at night and the road to… Read More

My husband and I love motorcycle adventures. We love to combine trips where we plan an activity, but create the trip as we go. Last summer we decided to do a trip through middle and eastern Tennessee on the bike. Mind you, the time was August and it was the hottest on record; not necessarily the best time to take off into the elements. But we have romantic ideas that we get so few moments… Read More

Family Vacation spot

Every year my family chooses a new spot to go on vacation and, about four years ago, we chose Tennessee. Since then, every year we go back there rather than choosing a new place to visit because we love it so much. On the last visit we stayed at the Gaylord Opry Land Hotel right next to the Grand Ole Opry house. The hotel itself is absolutely amazing, but what made it even better was… Read More

Im a 42-year-old widow from Ohio, with 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Going south to the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains was the only place my late husband wanted to go to on vacation trips. We went 2-3 times a year. Some trips were with my in-laws and friends.
I can remember a trip we took in the early ‘90s. We decided to hike (Clingman’s Dome, I think)! During the hike I ripped my jeans, it… Read More

A Tennessee Tapestry Dream

Tennessee’s tapestry of color is stunning year round. With its landscape of hills and valleys, and unique shades of rocks and trees, the breathtaking scenery is outstanding. Glistening sapphire lakes are as intriguing as the stalagmites and stalactites dripping from ceiling to floor in Tennessee’s’ beautiful caves such as Blue Springs and Bull Cave.
My companion and I shared this adventure together, enjoying our freedom on country roads, taking in the panoramic Smoky Mountain view,… Read More

Our Tennessee Vacation

Two summers ago my husband and I and our 12-year-old daughter took a road trip from Mt. Holly, NJ to Nashville and Memphis. It was August and of course, Elvis month! We had a fantastic time at Graceland. We also visited the Civil Rights Museum—what a moving experience!
In Nashville we stayed at Gaylord Opryland. Trees, plants, restaurants, a river, boats, music, dancing and lots of fun—all enclosed by glass! It was the best place… Read More

One of my most memorable trips to Tennessee was one I made alone starting on Feburary 12, 2005. I was up and on the road before 5 a.m., headed from Russellville, Arkansas to the waterfall country of middle Tennessee to spend a week hiking and enjoying the beauty of this wonderful state. By 12:30 I was in Cookeville where I stopped for gas and a short rest, then decided I would head north and find… Read More
