Off The Beaten Path
Things To Do, Attractions, Nature and Outdoors, Sports and Recreation
My family and I have horses, so we are always looking for trails to go to in Tennessee for vacation. There are lots of state parks with walking and riding trails, and you can see all the beauty off the road, like water falls, rivers, wild flowers, and all kind of animals. And it brings the family closer together
You can camp in the campground, and go to nearby cities and do fun stuff, like… Read More

My Tennessee vacation was about 1968 with my Grandma and Grandpa. This year my grandma and grandpa McArtor decided to take my sister Cheryl and brother John and myself on vacation with them. The vacation started in Southern Illinois and went to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.
The most memorable stops also included several days at Dover, TN where we explored the Civil War battlefield and fished in the lake. We travelled to Nashville and then… Read More

My husband and I have 3 children and lead very busy lives. It is very hard to find time to vacation so this year we decided to just drop everything and reconnect as a family. We chose the Great Smokey Mountains of Tenn. and Gatlinburg. We had the most incredible time. We stayed at Hidden Springs resort in a beautiful cabin on the side of a mountain. We could have just stayed and relaxed all… Read More

Two years ago we decided to take a family vacation to Pigeon Forge. We expected to like Dollywood (we did!) and other tourist attractions in the area.
However, we were surprised and amazed to find the most beautiful gardens filled with exotic birds just a few miles from Dollywood. The place is called Parrot Mountain and Gardens. As bird lovers, we really enjoyed visiting the beautiful birds, and even getting to hold and feed some… Read More

I love getting away in Tennessee. You don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re in a different world. It is my goal to visit all the Tennessee State Parks. So far I’ve visited 16. I have my favorites, but I have enjoyed every one of the State Parks for different reasons.
I went to Fall Creek Falls one weekend to study for my calculus finals. I had a room in the inn with… Read More

I Never Want To Leave Tennessee
Things To Do, History and Heritage, Nature and Outdoors, Sports and Recreation
The first year that my wife and I were married, we decided to take in her family reunion at Standing Stone State Park in Hilham, Tennessee. The reunion is known as the Brown/Bilbrey Family Reunion. My father-in-law was born in Alpine, Tennessee, not too far from the park.
I had never spent much time in Tennessee other than for business trips to major cities; but let me tell you something, there is nothing better than… Read More

Our Tennessee Vacation started out in Bristol, TN for the big March race. We had a wonderful weekend there but had to move on to Gatlinburg. Our family spent the week in a cabin in the mountains. It reminded us of a quieter time.
It is quite possible that it was one of the best family vactions we have had yet. However, we are going to try to top it week after next. We have… Read More

My best girlfriend and I have been friends for almost 30 years. We take at least one weekend trip to Tennessee each year to get away from husbands and family for a “Girls Only” weekend. We have stayed in Nashville, Memphis, Gatlinburg, Knoxville, and Goodletville, Tennessee. We are always pleased with the beautiful scenery, the entertainment events, the historic attractions, the music, the food, the shopping, and most of all the friendly people.
We have… Read More

Our Love Affair with Tennessee
Things To Do, History and Heritage, Music and Arts, Nature and Outdoors
We have always loved the area of Tennessee around the Great Smoky Mountains. We have camped many times in the National Park and in Pigeon Forge. My husband and I spent our honeymoon, 30 years ago, in Gatlinburg. Even though we live in Indiana, we are Southerners at heart.
As many times as we have traveled to Tennessee to the Smoky Mountain area, we had never spent anytime in Nashville. That changed when our son… Read More

Great Family Memories
Things To Do, Attractions, Music and Arts, Nature and Outdoors, Shopping
The summer of 2006 was our first one-full-week vacation ever as a family. Our children were 20, 22 & 24. With 3 children in college & or working, a week-long vacation was, first of all, hard to get planned. Also, our sons girlfriend joined us for the trip. We knew we wanted to come to TN. We began our trip by staying in Gatlinburg for 3 days. The cabin we stayed at was amazingly quiet,… Read More
