There’s nothing better than a warm spring day in Tennessee! Springtime brings on the ceremonious packing away of warm clothing and paves the way for some quality time with the great outdoors.
To find all of the upcoming activities and events, check out http://tnvacation.com/calendar/. This is the go-to place to find cool events in your area. For example, this weekend we can look forward to the start of the 50th Annual Dogwood Arts Festival… Read More

Tennessee’s the kind of state that urges a double-take; you probably already know a lot about the musicians who keep Tennessee front and center , including Nashville-based Grammy winners Kings of Leon and legendary artists such as Dolly Parton and Al Green. Our food is quite legendary, too, such as Neely’s BBQ in Memphis and catfish served-up at the World’s Biggest Fish Fry in Paris. What you don’t know about Tennessee might surprise you. I… Read More

Off The Beaten Path
Things To Do, Attractions, Nature and Outdoors, Sports and Recreation
My family and I have horses, so we are always looking for trails to go to in Tennessee for vacation. There are lots of state parks with walking and riding trails, and you can see all the beauty off the road, like water falls, rivers, wild flowers, and all kind of animals. And it brings the family closer together
You can camp in the campground, and go to nearby cities and do fun stuff, like… Read More

My Tennessee vacation was about 1968 with my Grandma and Grandpa. This year my grandma and grandpa McArtor decided to take my sister Cheryl and brother John and myself on vacation with them. The vacation started in Southern Illinois and went to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.
The most memorable stops also included several days at Dover, TN where we explored the Civil War battlefield and fished in the lake. We travelled to Nashville and then… Read More

My husband and I have 3 children and lead very busy lives. It is very hard to find time to vacation so this year we decided to just drop everything and reconnect as a family. We chose the Great Smokey Mountains of Tenn. and Gatlinburg. We had the most incredible time. We stayed at Hidden Springs resort in a beautiful cabin on the side of a mountain. We could have just stayed and relaxed all… Read More

Two years ago we decided to take a family vacation to Pigeon Forge. We expected to like Dollywood (we did!) and other tourist attractions in the area.
However, we were surprised and amazed to find the most beautiful gardens filled with exotic birds just a few miles from Dollywood. The place is called Parrot Mountain and Gardens. As bird lovers, we really enjoyed visiting the beautiful birds, and even getting to hold and feed some… Read More

Memphis in May is a great time to enjoy a wide variety of music, good food, and beautiful sunsets by the Mississippi River in Tommy Lee Park.
You can walk down Beale Street and have a drink at one of the many restaurants/bars on your way to the park.
A very relaxing weekend getaway!

I love getting away in Tennessee. You don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re in a different world. It is my goal to visit all the Tennessee State Parks. So far I’ve visited 16. I have my favorites, but I have enjoyed every one of the State Parks for different reasons.
I went to Fall Creek Falls one weekend to study for my calculus finals. I had a room in the inn with… Read More

I Never Want To Leave Tennessee
Things To Do, History and Heritage, Nature and Outdoors, Sports and Recreation
The first year that my wife and I were married, we decided to take in her family reunion at Standing Stone State Park in Hilham, Tennessee. The reunion is known as the Brown/Bilbrey Family Reunion. My father-in-law was born in Alpine, Tennessee, not too far from the park.
I had never spent much time in Tennessee other than for business trips to major cities; but let me tell you something, there is nothing better than… Read More

Our Tennessee Vacation started out in Bristol, TN for the big March race. We had a wonderful weekend there but had to move on to Gatlinburg. Our family spent the week in a cabin in the mountains. It reminded us of a quieter time.
It is quite possible that it was one of the best family vactions we have had yet. However, we are going to try to top it week after next. We have… Read More
