Beauty and Respect

Things To Do, Music and Arts, Regions

November 2006. My first visit to Tennessee. Nashville and Memphis. The beautiful state of Tennessee with the golden colors of the trees when aboard the General Jackson on the Cumberland River, and the people are just so polite and respectful everywhere you go. They can’t do enough for you. Unlike in the UK, nothing is too much trouble and service is done with a smile and not a grunt as in the UK. Being a musician, Nashville just blew my mind with the rows of recording studios and of course the Ryman Auditorium and Grand Ole Opry. The Honky Tonks were absolutely brilliant, and the constant flow of talented musicians that frequented and entertained in them nightly was just astounding. Then Memphis, well this was the highlight of my trip. Graceland! A very moving, warm, spiritual, lovely experience, plus staying in Heartbreak Hotel just put the icing on the cake for me. Constant Elvis Presley, heaven! Because of my lovely visit, I then returned in April this year to Las Vegas, Nashville and Memphis, and had the same exhilarating experience, and spent more time calling at places like Casey Jones museum, and several visits to Beale Street and of course, Graceland again doing the VIP tour this time. I would recommend this wonderful state to everyone, if they want a warm friendly welcome, which makes you very reluctant to go home. I will be coming back to Tennessee again in the very near future.
