Childhood Vacation

Things To Do, Nature and Outdoors

My Tennessee vacation was about 1968 with my Grandma and Grandpa. This year my grandma and grandpa McArtor decided to take my sister Cheryl and brother John and myself on vacation with them. The vacation started in Southern Illinois and went to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.

The most memorable stops also included several days at Dover, TN where we explored the Civil War battlefield and fished in the lake. We travelled to Nashville and then to Chattanooga, where we explored Ruby Falls and Lookout Mountain.

I remember telling Grandpa that I was going to live in Tennessee one day, and in 1989 I moved to Lake County, home of Reelfoot Lake. I now live in Dyer County and I plan on staying in Tennessee for the remainder of my days.

The people are what made me fall in love with Tennessee. People in my place of employment and my neighborhood always help out their neighbors. The majority of people here are truly Volunteers when you need a helping hand. Tennessee is a wonderful place to call home. If you visit here, you, too, may want to move here.
