Things To Do, My Tennessee Weekend
Yet another weekend has arrived in Tennessee! What to do this weekend, you ask? Our answer: Plenty!
What better place to curl up with a good book than on the banks of the Mississippi River? In Memphis, “Read Out on the Mississippi” will be in full swing June 26. Kids and parents, grab a blanket and head down to Mud Island for this family-friendly event. Imaginations will soar as special guests from the Memphis Public Library share their passion for reading and narrate their favorite books. This is a free event designed to encourage reading in children ages 3 to 6.
There’s nothing like listening to good music and watching a perfect Tennessee sunset. On June 27, you can do both. The Carnton Plantation Sunset Concert in Franklin features an internationally-acclaimed Rolling Stones tribute band at this anticipated event. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and prepare to have the relaxing evening you’ve been waiting for all week.
The largest African-American cultural arts festival in east Tennessee has arrived in Knoxville! The 21st Annual Kuumba Festival lasts through Sunday and features cultural dances, food, vendors and an overall great time. Be sure to bring the whole family to experience this event you won’t want to miss!
What did I tell you? There are lots to do and see this weekend! Venture out into your area and see what else is going on this weekend. And don’t forget to have fun!
