Memorial Day weekend has arrived in Tennessee! It’s time to grab your sunscreen, pack your picnic basket and gas up the car for the long weekend we’ve all been waiting for.

The state of Tennessee is brimming with activities for all to enjoy this weekend. Just take your pick! Whether you’re in the mood for a festival or musical performance, there’s something for everyone this weekend.

Granville Heritage Day held May 29 is all set to keep visitors entertained with great music and old-fashioned fun. Uncle Jimmy Thompson Bluegrass Festival will feature guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, banjo and fiddle contests, Civil War re-enactments and more. Also in Middle Tennessee, the Annual Memorial Day Blues Festival at Centennial Park in Nashville will have crowds bobbing their heads and tapping their toes in tune from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. May 31 in Nashville. Also in the city, the Nashville Shores will host “Salute to Freedom,“ providing veterans, members of the armed forces and their families discounted rates on May 29.

Shiloh National Military Park will host special events and commemorative activities Memorial Day weekend. From 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, costumed living historians will interpret wars in which the United States has participated, including the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War and more. There will also be live firings and a new exhibit that features the McClellan cavalry saddles and equipment used in the United States Army.

Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform during the Second Annual Pops Concert held at the Chattanooga Choo Choo May 29. The orchestra will return for the second year in a row to perform their famous songs and big band sounds. The group travels more than 100,000 miles each year, playing nearly 300 concerts. The entire repertoire now exceeds 1,700 compositions, keeping the orchestra popular among all ages.
